Nono Bandera in the Municipal Heritage Museum of Málaga

Taking a position, taking possesion is an exhibition proposal that arises from the possibility of reviewing the work of artists from Malaga or residents in the city or province of Malaga for decades, who have a consolidated career or who even enjoy the consideration of consecrated persons.

In the work of many of these artists, drawing, painting and sculpture acquire three-dimensional, installation and environmental dimensions that make them take a position and possession of the exhibition space, while they can also allude to physical places to move them to the room, as if it were a non-site, or they allude to imaginaries, such as painting or reading/writing, converted into places or environments. Sometimes, some of these pieces result in a kind of positioning regarding issues of a theoretical nature or historical and democratic memory, with which the piece and the artist take a position, not just possession (of the space).
