Juan Luis Moraza – Special Edition Covid-19.
The Coronavirus crisis came to Spain while the tripalium exhibition by Juan Luis Moraza, of which the Banco Internacional de Tiempo Laboral was part, was being shown in our gallery. The exhibition, like the rest of the population, was confined. This situation has motivated the artist to create a special edition, from the series Banco Internacional de Tiempo Laboral: 666 HORAS, a work for a critical moment in which time, work and money have revealed more than ever their condition, in which the Earth and Earthlings are confined within the evil circle of interest.

FRONT: The compositional structure is based on Swiss monetary designs. The image is covered by geometric patterns with oblique lines, and the color range tends to a general violet hue. The reference of the INTERNATIONAL WORK TIME BANK is presented in three languages: English, French and Traditional Chinese. The colors chosen for each language allow the subliminal creation of the German flag. Likewise, the time value of the ticket appears in six languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Traditional Chinese. The numerical value 666 refers to the number of the name of the supreme Evil, as it appears in the Biblical Apocalypse, used endlessly as a mechanism of demonization when associating that number – through correspondences and combinations – with certain characters, organizations or events. From a mathematical point of view, it is a number with peculiar properties, it is the sum of the succession of the first 36 natural numbers (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + […….] + 34 + 35 + 36 = 666), and also corresponds to the sum of the squares of the first prime numbers except for 0 and 1 (22 + 32 + 52 + 72 + 112 + 132 + 172 = 666); fulfill the sum of the following cubes (13 + 23 + 33 + 43 + 53 + 63 + 53 + 43 + 33 + 23 + 13 = 666), the sine of the angle of 666 ° multiplied by -2 is equal to the golden ratio , etc … It is surely this complex numerical structure that will have allowed precisely any correspondence to be able to associate this number with anything: It is demonstrable that any name can be associated with the number 666 granting a determined and adequate correspondence between letters and numbers.
A superimposition of oblique line geometric patterns and genetic codes serves as the background to the main image is one of the 3D reconstructions of the COVID 19 shape.
At the top right is a board maze from the classic game of the comecocos, PACMAN, which includes the live counter. On the right, a figure of the game ghost, adversary in the game, neither alive nor dead, who iconographically evokes both a ski mask and a skull.

The image is a superimposition of backgrounds on which the yellow figure of the PACMAN appears, in the same position and the same size as the obverse is the figure of the coronavirus. This figure stands out on a background overlay: a military camouflage background on which an aerial view of different people is scattered on a large white surface at triangulated distances in a network. And above them, a reconstruction of a drawing by the architect Miguel Fisac, taken from the book The Urban Molecule, in which he encrypts the logic of urban space as a game of distancing and proximity.
